Dr. Molly’s Approach & Virtual Care

Home Dr. Molly’s Approach & Virtual Care

    Virtual Care with Dr. Molly

    VIRTUAL CARE

I provide all of my medical consultations via video.  This delivery method allows you to have your appointment from the comfort of your own home/office and save time and cost on travel.  While very efficient and effective, virtual appointments are not always suited for everyone.

If I believe I can provide you with a high quality of care in this manner, I will happily take you on as a patient. Once you fill in our Potential New Patient Form, I will have a better sense of whether I can help.

If I believe you may require frequent in-person visits I will do my best to recommend an alternative naturopathic practitioner who may be able to provide you with ongoing in-person care.

    PHYSICAL EXAMS

If you become a patient of mine and a physical or focused examination is required I will indicate this in your appt. and you can arrange to have this done with the relevant practitioner(s). I frequently co-manage cases with MDs and other specialists.

    TESTING

Testing recommendations are provided at your initial or second appt., once I have reviewed your complete health history, seen what has been run to date, and which biomarkers are still required.

If you have any existing bloodwork, imaging or other test results from the past 1-2 year please send those in 48 hours in advance of your first appointment.  You can email them to my assistant @ admin@drmollynd.comand she will make sure they get uploaded into your patient portal and I see them.

For basic blood work I will outline the options of potentially running these thru OHIP (via your MD) or privately thru our clinic.

The more specialized and thorough functional medicine tests are not covered by OHIP and would be an out-of-pocket cost and the costs range between $250-$550 depending on the test.

You may find more details about both blood and functional medicine tests on our website under the “Diagnostic and Lab Tests” section.  (This section does not include costs)

Here are the Three Key Things You Need to Know About Me as a Doctor

    1. I treat you as a whole person – not just a bunch of body parts – and look at every aspect of your health.   In your appointments I’ll be asking you about how well you sleep, eat, move your body, what your mindset is like, what your self-care routine consists of, how you handle stress…and all that good stuff.  I do this because it matters, and because it’s impossible to really heal unless you are whole on every level:  mental, emotional and physical.

    2. I take a functional medicine approach to health and focus on the “why” of it all.  My goal is to uncover the cause of your illness/disease/dysfunction vs. merely masking your symptoms with supplements or medications.  In my mind that gets us nowhere and is a waste of your time and money.   Depending on the complexity of your health issues, your care will be broken out into two phases:  The Active Care Phase and The Maintenance Care Phase.  An overview of these phases can be found below.

    3.  I invest a lot of time and energy into each of my patients and believe in creating a strong partnership.  As I see it, it’s my job to help you figure out the “why” and then give you the knowledge, tools, and resources so you can heal yourself.  My health coach and nutritionist, Katie, plays a key role in this partnership and is a valuable part of your wellness team.   Ultimately, our hope is that you get to the point where you don’t even need us! (Except perhaps for a tune-up once or twice a year.)

Bonus Fact:   This approach takes time, dedication and a high level of commitment on both sides, but is well worth the effort.  I want to emphasize that how quickly you heal and how much you heal is entirely in your hands.  We will do our very best to uncover the “why”, give you a high level of support and set you up for success, but ultimately it’s up to you to do the work and invest in your health.  Rest assured that we will be there on the sidelines cheering you on every step of the way!
